I add in Waves IMPusher, and Izotope Neutron and CPU jumps to between 30 and 50%. Reason itself with and empty rack takes about 12% CPU on my machine. No instruments at all, just 21 audio tracks with effects and mastering FX on the main. The same song in Pro Tools 12 with the same plugin setup runs flawlessly. I upgraded to 9.5 (Yay VSTs!) and noticed that Reason was using almost 100% of all CPU threads when my songs started to slow down and skip.
